ミロ展（東京都美術館） Juan Miro (Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum)

2022年、渋谷のBunkamuraで20年ぶりというミロの大回顧展が開かれた。その時のテーマは、日本とのつながりだった。

今回は、それ以来のミロ展。内容は、オーソドックスにミロの生涯と、その作風の翩々を辿るという内容だった。

パリに出る以前のミロの作品は、後期印象派、未来派などの影響を受けているものが多い。

パリに出てからは、その作風がガラッと変わる。シュルレアリスムなどの影響を受けたのか、”絵画を暗殺する”と宣言し、伝統的な絵画の手法にこだわらない、様々な試みを行った。

ミロは、詩についてもとても関心があり、作品の中に詩文を書いたりしていた。

日本の前衛詩人であった瀧口修造が、ミロに興味を持って、世界で初めて評論を書いたというが、滝口はミロの絵の中に、そうした詩情を感じたのかもしれない。

ヨーロッパが第2次大戦になり、スペイン内戦などもあって精神的に不安定になった時期、ミロは1940年1月から”星座”シリーズを描いた。

アンドレ・ブルトンは、『シュルレアリスムと絵画』の中で、ミロの”星座”シリーズを取り上げて、”芸術におけるレジスタンス”と位置つけた。

晩年になってもミロは、常に変化し続けていた。

日本の書道や、アメリカのモダンアートに影響された作品も展示されていた。

ユニークな展示としては、FCバルセロナ75周年を記念するポスターがあった。バルセロナに生まれたミロは、当然のことながらバルサのファンだったのだ。

In 2022, a major retrospective of Miro's work was held at Bunkamura in Shibuya for the first time in 20 years. The theme at that time was the connection with Japan.

This is the first Miro exhibition since then. The content was an orthodox look at Miro's life and the variability of his style.

Many of Miro's works before he went to Paris were influenced by Post-Impressionism and Futurism.

After he went to Paris, his style changed completely. Perhaps influenced by Surrealism and other movements, he declared that he would "assassinate painting" and made various attempts that did not stick to traditional painting techniques.

Miro was also very interested in poetry, and wrote poems and prose in his works.

It is said that Japanese avant-garde poet Shuzo Takiguchi became interested in Miro and was the first person in the world to write a critique of his work, and Takiguchi may have felt that poetic sentiment in Miro's paintings.

During a period of mental instability due to the Second World War in Europe and the Spanish Civil War, Miro began painting his "Constellations" series in January 1940.

In his book "Surrealism and Painting," Andre Breton focused on Miro's "Constellations" series and positioned it as "artistic resistance."

Even in his later years, Miro continued to change.

Works influenced by Japanese calligraphy and American modern art were also on display.

One unique exhibit was a poster commemorating the 75th anniversary of FC Barcelona. Miro, who was born in Barcelona, ​​was naturally a Barca fan.
