ダリ展（横須賀美術館） Salvador Dali - Secrets to His Genius (Yokosuka Museum of Art)

昨年から、福島の諸橋近代美術館から始まった、サルバドール・ダリ生誕120周年を記念する展覧会。

その後、秋田、大分と巡回に、年を超えてようやく関東の横須賀美術館にやってきた。

諸橋近代美術館は、何年か前に訪れたことがあり、その際に展示されていて記憶に残っている作品もあった。

2024年は、アンドレ・ブルトンが”シュルレアリスム宣言”を発表してから100年目の年でもあった。

シュルレアリスムを代表する画家の一人であるダリは、西洋の伝統的な絵画手法を完璧と言っていいほど習得しており、技術という側面では他のシュルレアリスムの画家たちを圧倒していた。

ダリは、初めは伝統的な絵画を極めようと考えていたようだが、キリコやイブ・タンギーなどの影響を受けて、意表をついた風景と対象の組み合わせであるデペイズマンの手法で、シュルレアリスムを代表する存在になった。

アメリカで成功したダリは、やがてシュルレアリスム運動を”独裁”していたブルトンと対立し、”拝金主義者”として除名されてしまう。

しかし皮肉にも、今日ではシュルレアリスムと聞いて真っ先にダリの絵を思い浮かべる人は多いだろう。

ダリはその後も、原子力や遺伝子などを自分の作品に取り込んでいき、ますます”ダリ・ワールド”を展開していった。

ダリは版画作品でも、ドン・キホーテやマルドロールの歌、サドやパンタグリュエルなどの文学作品を、独自の解釈で表現した。その奔放さはピカソを連想させる。

ダリという画家は、常に外部からの刺激を受けながら、その独自の絵画世界を作り上げていったのだろう。

An exhibition commemorating the 120th anniversary of the birth of Salvador Dali began at the Morohashi Museum of Modern Art in Fukushima last year.

It then traveled to Akita and Oita, and finally came to the Yokosuka Museum of Art in Kanto after more than a year.

I had visited the Morohashi Museum of Modern Art a few years ago, and there were some memorable works on display there.

2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Andre Breton's publication of the "Surrealist Manifesto."

Dali, one of the leading Surrealist painters, had mastered traditional Western painting techniques to perfection, and in terms of technique, he overwhelmed other Surrealist painters.

Dali initially seemed to want to master traditional painting, but he was influenced by artists such as Chirico and Yves Tanguy, and became a representative of Surrealism with his technique of depaysement, a surprising combination of landscapes and subjects.

Dali's success in America eventually led to conflict with Breton, who had a "dictatorial" hold over the Surrealist movement, and he was expelled as a "mammonist."

Ironically, however, today, when people hear the word "Surrealism," many think of Dali's paintings first.

Dali continued to incorporate atomic power and genetics into his work, further developing the "Dali world."

In his prints, Dali also expressed literary works such as Don Quixote and Les Songs de Maldoror, as well as Sade and Pantagruel, with his own unique interpretations. His unrestrainedness is reminiscent of Picasso.

Dali the painter must have been constantly receiving stimuli from outside, while creating his own unique world of painting.
