没後30年 木下佳通代（埼玉県立近代美術館） A Retrospective - Kinoshita Kazuko (Museum of Modern Art, Saitama)

寡聞にも、木下佳通代のことは知らなかった。

昨年、木下の回顧展が大阪の中之島美術館で行われることを知った。

そのプロファイルを読んで興味が湧き、大阪を訪れようと思ったが、埼玉県立美術館に巡回すると知り、その巡回を待つことにした。

木下は1939年に神戸で生まれた。その後、京都市立美術大学で西洋画を学んだが、同時に哲学にも興味を持っていた。

当初は、パウル・クレーに影響された油絵を描いていたが、次第に抽象的で、前衛的な作品を描くようになったようだ。

風景写真と、その風景写真を撮る人物の写真を並べた作品。真円を斜めから描いて楕円に見せる絵画作品（？）など、人間の感覚を危うさを感じさせる作品が多い。

1980年代以降は、巨大なカンバスに色を塗ってそれを削ぎ落とす作品や、線のような文字のような造形を描く作品を描いた。

やがて、ガンが見つかるが、制作活動の妨げになることを恐れて、手術を拒んで制作を続けて、54歳で命を落とした。

木下の追い求めた表現のその先を、もっと見たかったと思うのは、私だけではないだろう。

I had never heard of Kinoshita Yoshiyo.

Last year, I learned that a retrospective of Kinoshita was to be held at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka.

I was interested after reading her profile and thought about visiting Osaka, but when I found out that the exhibition would be touring to the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Art, I decided to wait for the tour.

Kinoshita was born in Kobe in 1939. She later studied Western painting at the Kyoto City University of Arts, but at the same time he was also interested in philosophy.

At first, she painted oil paintings influenced by Paul Klee, but gradually he began to paint abstract and avant-garde works.

A work that juxtaposes landscape photographs with photographs of people taking those landscape photographs. Many of her works, such as a painting (?) in which a perfect circle is painted at an angle to make it look like an ellipse, make us feel the danger of human senses.

Since the 1980s, she has painted huge canvases and then scraped them off, and created works that depict shapes that are like lines or letters.

She was eventually diagnosed with cancer, but fearing that it would interfere with his creative work, she refused surgery and continued to create, eventually passing away at the age of 54.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would have liked to have seen more beyond the expression that Kinoshita pursued.
