あいち2025 - その13（愛知県陶磁美術館） Aichi Triennale 2025: Part-13 (Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum)

2つ目の会場は、愛知県陶磁美術館。

ここの美術館を訪れるのは2回目。前に訪れたのは、2021年11月。美しい中国陶磁器展を見に来た時だった。

谷口吉郎の個性的な建築の記憶は、4年という月日を感じさせない。

The second venue was the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Art Museum.

This was my second time visiting this museum. My previous visit was in November 2021, when I came to see an exhibition of beautiful Chinese ceramics.

The memory of Yoshiro Taniguchi's unique architecture makes the four years that have passed feel unaffected.

本館に向かう途中の庭に、ワンゲシ・ムトゥの作品が展示されていた。

ムトゥが生まれた、ケニアのナイロビでよく使われているという籠の中に、蛇のトグロや亀の甲羅が覗いている。

ムトゥの作品は、伝統的なテーマにユーモアを加えて、思わず笑みがこぼれてしまうような、いい意味での”軽み”がある。

彼女の作品とは、本館の中でもまた出会うことになる。

On the way to the main building, I came across an exhibition of Wangesi Mutu's works in the garden.

A snake's toguro and a turtle's shell can be seen peeking out from a basket, a type of basket commonly used in Nairobi, Kenya, where Mutu was born.

Mutu's works add humor to traditional themes, giving them a lightheartedness that makes you smile in an unexpected way.

I would encounter more of her work inside the main building.

屋外には、もう一つの作品があった。

最初は、これは作品？と思いながら通り過ぎそうになったが、説明版を見つけたので、それが作品だと分かった。

ハイブ・アースは、ガーナで結成されたグループで、建築やアート、デザインなど多彩な活動を行っている。

There was another artwork outside.

At first, I wondered if it was an artwork and almost walked right past it, but then I spotted an explanatory sign and realized it was an artwork.

Hive Earth is a group formed in Ghana that is involved in a wide range of activities, including architecture, art, and design.

ハイブ・アースは、”つくること陶芸館”で、ラーニング・プログラムも行っていた。

土を突き固める、”版築”という手法を、参加者たちにこの場所で一緒に作りながら、教えていたようだ。

その際の、写真なども展示されていた。

最初の写真の”イス”を作る際に掘った土を使って、”つくること陶芸館”にあった”版築”が作られたという。

その行為自体が、人間の活動の根源的なものを思い起こさせる、アート作品ということなのだろう。

Hive Earth also ran a learning program at the Tsukuri Koto Ceramics Museum.

They taught participants the "rammed earth" technique, which involves tamping clay together, while they created something together on site.

Photographs from the program were also on display.

The "rammed earth" at the Tsukuri Koto Ceramics Museum was apparently made using the soil dug up when making the chair in the first photo.

The act itself is a work of art that evokes the fundamental nature of human activity.
