遠い窓へ 日本の新進作家（東京都写真美術館） Contemporary Japanese Photography (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum)

開館30周年を記念して行われた、日本の新進写真家たちの展覧会。

This exhibition of up-and-coming Japanese photographers was held to commemorate the museum's 30th anniversary.

スクリプカリウ落合安奈は、母国のルーマニアを訪れた時のスナップショットを、スライドにして展示。

隣国のウクライナでは、先の見えない戦争が続いているが、母国では、その土地でずっと暮らしている人々の、変わることない、昔ながらの生活があった。

Anna Skripkariu Ochiai exhibited slides of snapshots from her visits to her native Romania.

While war with no end in sight continues in neighboring Ukraine, in her home country, the people who have lived there for a long time continue to live their lives unchanged, as they always have.

甫木元空は、余命宣告された母親の元を訪れて、その最後の日々を記録した。

母親の生前の写真と、その死後の風景の写真を、一つのフレームに収めるというユニークな構成だった。

Genku Hoki visited his mother, who had been given a terminal diagnosis, and recorded her final days.

The unique composition of the work combines a photograph of his mother while she was alive and a photograph of the scenery after her death, all in one frame.

岡ともみは、暗い部屋の中に、古い柱時計が立ち並んでいるというユニークな展示方法。

あの世では、すべてが逆さまになっていることから、時計の文字盤は逆になっている。

それぞれの時計の振り子の部分には、古い日本の習慣を暗示するテーマの、写真や映像が浮かび上がっている。

近づいて中を覗かないと、その様子はよくわからない。

Tomomi Oka's unique exhibition involves a row of old grandfather clocks standing in a dark room.

The clock faces are reversed, as everything is upside down in the afterlife.

The pendulum of each clock displays photographs and videos with themes that allude to old Japanese customs.

You can't really tell what's going on unless you get close and look inside.

呉夏枝のは、これまたユニークな展示方法だった。

部屋の中に、布が糸で吊るされている。その布には、太平洋の島々の風景や、プランテーションで厳しい労働を強いられた人々の様子が、映り込んでいる。

部屋の奥には、18世紀のイギリスで出版された、太平洋地域の地図が映されている。

呉は、この地域を飛ぶ渡り鳥が見ているであろう情景を、このような形で表現したかったようだ。

渡り鳥たちにとっては、国境や植民地など、全く自分たちには関係のないことだったろう。

Wu Xia-chih's exhibition method was also unique.

Cloth was hung by threads in the room, reflecting images of Pacific island landscapes and people forced to do hard labor on plantations.

At the back of the room, a map of the Pacific region published in Britain in the 18th century was projected.

In this way, Wu appears to have wanted to express the scenery that migratory birds flying over the region would see.

To migratory birds, borders and colonies would have been completely irrelevant.
