金沢文庫を訪れたのは久しぶりだった。1年ぶりくらいだろうか。
名古屋の徳川美術館にある、蓬左文庫との共催とあって、足を運んだ。
蓬左文庫は、徳川家康が収集した書籍を引き継いだ、家康の九男に当たる尾張家の祖、徳川義直の駿河御譲本が元になった文庫。
そこには、元は金沢文庫にあったか文書も多く含まれている。
今回の展示の目玉の一つである河内本源氏物語は、会場を入ったすぐの場所に展示されていた。
金沢文庫の旧蔵品で、今は、蓬左文庫にある。まさに、今回の展覧会を象徴する展示品だ。
鎌倉時代の写本だが、全巻が揃っているものとしては、もっとも古い源氏物語となる。
金沢文庫の創設750年を記念する特別展とあって、この文庫を創設した北条実時とその後継者たちの肖像画や書状なども展示されていた。
江戸時代の寛永年間には、蓬左文庫の書籍を天皇にも貸していたが、その中にも金沢文庫にあった書籍が含まれていたという。
金沢文庫を訪れた後は、必ず、すぐ隣の称名寺を見てから帰るのが、お馴染みのコース。
いつも、この場所は、時間が止まってしまっているのではないか、という錯覚を覚える。
この日は、色づき始めた紅葉が、とても美しかった。
It's been a while since I last visited Kanazawa Bunko. It's been about a year, I think.
I went because it was co-hosted with the Hosa Bunko, located at the Tokugawa Art Museum in Nagoya.
The Hosa Bunko collection originated from the Suruga Gojyo Books of Tokugawa Yoshinao, the ninth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu and founder of the Owari clan, who inherited the books collected by Ieyasu.
The collection also includes many documents that may have originally been housed in the Kanazawa Bunko.
The Kawachi version of the Tale of Genji, one of the highlights of this exhibition, was on display just inside the venue.
Formerly part of the Kanazawa Bunko collection, it is now housed in the Hosa Bunko. It is truly the exhibit that symbolizes this exhibition.
Although it is a manuscript from the Kamakura period, it is the oldest complete copy of the Tale of Genji known.
As this was a special exhibition commemorating the 750th anniversary of the founding of Kanazawa Bunko, portraits and letters of Hojo Sanetoki, the library's founder, and his successors were also on display.
During the Kan'ei era of the Edo period, books from the Hosa Bunko were loaned to the Emperor, and it is said that some of these books were from Kanazawa Bunko.
After visiting Kanazawa Bunko, it is a common practice to always head home after seeing Shomyoji Temple, located right next door.
I always get the illusion that time has stood still here.
On this day, the autumn leaves, just beginning to change color, were incredibly beautiful.
