うつくしきかな（MIHO MUSEUM） Timeless Beauty (MIHO MUSEUM)

琵琶湖の南、湖南アルプスの山中にある、桃源郷のようなMIHO MUSEUM。

今回で、訪れたのは2回目。

JR石山駅からバスに乗り、渓谷沿いの山道を50分ほど進み、ようやくその入り口に辿り着いた。

この美術館が所蔵する、古鑑『ひぐらし帖』が初めて公開されると聞いて、久しぶりの訪問となった。

『ひぐらし帖』の古筆が一気に並べて展示されると思いきや、6つの期間に細かく分割されての展示。まあ、仕方ないか。

その他に、東京国立博物館、京都国立博物館、五島美術館、根津美術館などの名筆も、合わせて展示されていた。

そうした古筆の他にも、サブタイトルに”平安の美と王朝文化へのあこがれ”とあるように、東大寺伝来の伎楽面、奈良時代の二月堂焼経、白洲正子が所蔵していたという常滑経甕、土佐光起の石山寺観月図、本阿弥光悦の書などが展示されていて、楽しめた。

この美術館は、古代オリエント美術のコレクションでも知られている。

企画展を見終わった後に、古代エジプトやアッシリア、アケメネス朝ペルシャなどの貴重な品々をゆっくりと鑑賞することができた。

この美術館を訪れることは、そうした展示品を見ることと合わせて、この美しい建築を楽しむことも大きな喜びである。

ルーブル美術館のガラスのピラミッドなどで知られる、I.M.ペイが、桃源郷をイメージしたと言われる建築は、この湖南アルプスの風景に溶け込んでいる。

レセプション棟から美術館棟に進むアプローチは、長いトンネルを抜けて、美しい吊り橋を渡る。

ここで、世界的なファッション・ブランドがコレクション発表を行ったこともある。

古筆の名品と合わせて、そうした自然と一体となった建築空間を満喫することができた。

Located in the mountains of the Konan Alps, south of Lake Biwa, the MIHO MUSEUM is a paradise-like place.

This was my second visit.

I took a bus from JR Ishiyama Station and drove along the mountain path along the valley for about 50 minutes before finally arriving at the entrance.

I had been visiting for a long time, after hearing that the museum's collection of ancient calligraphy, "Higurashi-cho," would be on display for the first time.

I had thought that the ancient calligraphy of "Higurashi-cho" would be displayed all at once, but it was actually displayed in six separate periods. Well, that can't be helped.

In addition, famous calligraphy from the Tokyo National Museum, Kyoto National Museum, Gotoh Museum, Nezu Museum, and other museums were also on display.

In addition to these ancient calligraphy pieces, as the subtitle "A longing for the beauty of the Heian period and imperial culture" suggests, there were also exhibits of Gigaku masks from Todaiji Temple, burnt sutras from the Nigatsudo Hall from the Nara period, a Tokoname sutra jar that is said to have belonged to Shirasu Masako, Tosa Mitsuoki's painting of the moon at Ishiyama-dera Temple, and calligraphy by Hon'ami Koetsu, which were all on display and were very enjoyable.

This museum is also known for its collection of ancient Oriental art.

After viewing the special exhibition, I was able to leisurely appreciate the precious items from ancient Egypt, Assyria, and the Achaemenid Empire.

In addition to viewing the exhibits, visiting this museum is also a great pleasure in enjoying the beautiful architecture.

The architecture, which is said to have been inspired by a paradise by I.M. Pei, known for the glass pyramid at the Louvre, blends into the scenery of the Hunan Alps.

The approach from the reception building to the museum building goes through a long tunnel and crosses a beautiful suspension bridge.

Global fashion brands have presented their collections here in the past.

In addition to looking at the masterpieces of ancient calligraphy, we were able to enjoy the architectural space that is one with nature.
