慶珊寺と富岡八幡宮の名宝（金沢文庫） Treasures of Keisanji Temple and Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine (Kanazawa Bunko Museum)

富岡八幡宮といえば、東京の江東区の富岡にある神社のことが真っ先に頭に浮かぶ。

金沢文庫に近くにも、富岡という地名があり、そこにも富岡八幡宮があるという。

海に近い風光明媚な場所のようで、明治時代には松方正義や井上馨などの別荘もあった。

その富岡八幡宮に、鎌倉時代に600巻にも及ぶ大般若経が奉納され、今では江戸時代に豊島氏によって建てられた近くの慶珊寺に、保存されているという。

ちなみにその豊島氏は、その後、徳川家光の時代に江戸城内で刀傷事件を起こし、取り潰しになった。

大般若経は、戦争や災害などの時に奉納されたり、読みあげる法要が行われてきたようで、後白河法皇が法要を行ったり、足利尊氏が大般若経を作らせたとこともあったようだ。

現代においては、大般若経の力を信じる人はごくわずかかもしれない。

かつての日本においては、多くの人がその力を信じ、実際に、その力を持っていた時代があったのかもしれない。

When we think of Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine, the first thing that comes to mind is the shrine in Tomioka, Koto Ward, Tokyo.

There is also a place called Tomioka near Kanazawa Bunko, and Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine is said to be located there as well.

It is a scenic place close to the sea, and in the Meiji era, there were villas there for Matsukata Masayoshi and Inoue Kaoru.

During the Kamakura era, 600 volumes of the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra were dedicated to Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine, and they are now preserved in the nearby Keisanji Temple, which was built by the Toyoshima clan in the Edo era.

Incidentally, the Toyoshima clan was later involved in a sword attack incident inside Edo Castle during the reign of Tokugawa Iemitsu, and was abolished.

The Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra has been dedicated and recited in memorial services in times of war and disaster, and it is said that Emperor Goshirakawa held a memorial service and Ashikaga Takauji had the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra composed.

In modern times, there may be very few people who believe in the power of the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra.

There may have been a time in Japan in the past when many people believed in its power and actually possessed it.
