文永の役750年（國學院大学博物館） Unveiling the Mongolian Invasions Through Illustrated Accounts (Kokugakuin University Museum)

 

モンゴル軍が日本に大規模に侵攻した文永の役から750年を記念する展覧会。

昨年行われたPart1は、水中考古学の成果に基づく展示だった。

今回のPart-2では、国宝『蒙古襲来絵詞』の写本などから、文永の役とその後世への影響を紹介するという内容だった。

2回に分けて、考古学と歴史学の観点から、元寇という歴史的な事件について考えることができた。

日本の歴史には様々なことが起こったが、この蒙古襲来という出来事は、その後の日本に歴史に実に大きな影響を与えた。

本居宣長は、日本の神々が神風を吹かせて日本を救った、とその歴史的な事件を解釈した。多くの人々が、その後、この宣長の解釈を受け入れた。

そしてその影響は、様々に形を変えて、様々な領域において、現代にまで及んでいる。

『蒙古襲来絵詞』の写本は数多く知られている。この展覧会では2点が展示され、オリジナルも含めてその微妙が差異が解説されていた。

Part-1の時にも展示されていた、海中から発見された元寇の際の遺物が、今回も展示されていた。

以前、鎌倉歴史文化交流館で行われた展覧会でも目にしたことがあったが、当時の戦いで使われた”てつはう”や鎧や弓矢などを目にすると、750年という時間の流れが一気に巻き戻されるように感じられた。

This exhibition commemorates 750 years since the Bun'ei War, a large-scale invasion of Japan by the Mongol army.

Part 1, held last year, was an exhibition based on the results of underwater archaeology.

Part 2 this time introduced the Bun'ei War and its influence on later generations through the use of a copy of the national treasure "Mongol Shurai Ekotoba" (Illustrated Story of the Mongol Invasion).

In two parts, we were able to think about the historical event of the Mongol invasion from the perspectives of archaeology and history.

Many things have happened in Japanese history, but this Mongol invasion had a truly huge impact on subsequent Japanese history.

Motoori Norinaga interpreted this historical event as the Japanese gods blowing a divine wind to save Japan. Many people have since accepted Norinaga's interpretation.

And its influence has been transformed into various forms and has continued to the present day in various fields.

Many copies of "Mongol Shurai Ekotoba" are known. Two copies were exhibited in this exhibition, and the subtle differences between them, including the original, were explained.

Relics from the Mongol invasions discovered underwater, which were also on display in Part 1, were on display again this time.

I had previously seen them at an exhibition held at the Kamakura History and Culture Exchange Center, and seeing the ironclads, armor, bows and arrows used in the battles of that time made me feel as if 750 years of time had been rewound in an instant.
