未知なる世界と出会う（渋谷公園通りギャラリー） The Meeting Place of Unveiled Worlds (Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery)

このギャリーでは、たびたび、アール・ブリュットの展覧会が行われてきた。

今回は、英国のアール・ブリュットの作家の作品が紹介されるという。

日曜日に行ったせいか、周囲はもの凄い人手。斜向かいにあるパルコには、外国からの観光客や若者たちが、次々に飲み込まれていく。

残念ながら、渋谷公園通りギャラリーへの短い階段を登る人はごくわずかだった。

1891年生まれのスコッティ・ウィルソンは、今回展示されたアーティストの中でも最古参。

動物や植物などが一つになった不思議な作品は、ロンドンのシュルレアリストたちから大きな注目を集めたという。

ジャシー・ジェームズ・ネーゲルは、1993年生まれと最も新しく生まれたアーティスト。

色鮮やかでエキゾチックな絵画の中には、スマホなどが描かれていて、時代を感じる。

他には、英国で最も有名な女性アウトサイダー・アーティストのマッジ・ギル、沢山の目のような造形が描かれた作品が印象的だったキャシー・ウォード、オートマティズムで作られた不思議なオブジェを作るカーラ・マクウィリアムなどが、特に記憶に残っている。

アール・ブリュットの作品を見るたびに、そこにはアートというものの本質が、現れているように感じる。

Scottie Wilson, born in 1891, is the oldest of the artists exhibited this time.

His mysterious works, which combine animals and plants, are said to have attracted a lot of attention from London's surrealists.

Jassy James Nagel is the newest artist, born in 1993.

His colorful and exotic paintings feature smartphones and other items, giving a sense of the times.

Others who left a strong impression on me were Madge Gill, Britain's most famous female outsider artist, Cathy Ward, whose work featured many eye-like shapes, and Carla McWilliam, who creates mysterious objects using automatism.

Whenever I see an Art Brut work, I feel that it reveals the true essence of art.
